The folks over at Charlotte, North Carolina-based Krispy Kreme knew we needed just one more sweet send-off for summer.
Back in July, in line with National Blueberry Month, the Southern doughnut chain released Original Glazed Blueberry Flavored Doughnuts, hot off the line and generously iced. It was a fruity twist on the classic version, with blueberry-flavored dough, and fans went wild.
Many store locations sold out immediately, with customers arriving in the wee hours just for a chance at blueberry goodness. It was one of the hottest-selling doughnuts of the season, and led to many requests on social media. “They are amazing!” one fan wrote. “Keep them on the menu!”
If you missed the berry-licious window back in July, we have great news. Through September 20, you can snag these coveted, melt-in-your-mouth Original Glazed Blueberry Flavored Doughnuts at your local Krispy Kreme.
“Your fav is back!” Krispy Kreme announced on Instagram to a round of (virtual) applause. “My week has been made!” one fan exclaimed. “A must-try, y’all!” Another had a visceral reaction to the news (and we hope they’ve now secured the doughnut): “I started screaming and hyperventilating. Thank you for listening. Keep them forever, please!”
These blueberry doughnuts won’t last long, of course. They’re available individually and by the dozen in-store, for pickup, and for delivery while supplies last at participating Krispy Kreme locations.
“Fans made it clear they weren’t ready to say goodbye to our Original Glazed® Blueberry Flavored Doughnut, so we’re bringing it back for one last summer celebration,” said Alison Holder, Chief Product and Brand Officer at Krispy Kreme. “Whether you’re grabbing a dozen to share or keeping a few for yourself, it’s a delicious way to savor one last sweet taste of summer.”
Now, if you’re sold on trying summer’s hottest treat, there’s another berry-good perk: You can get a dozen of these Original Glazed Blueberry Flavored Doughnuts for just $5 when you purchase any other dozen at regular price. We of course don’t need any excuse to pick up Krispy Kreme doughnuts, but this feels like the perfect opportunity to share the love. We don’t even need to dream up uses for leftovers.
